There are currently two different citywide contests sponsored by the City of Frisco that are availalbe to all Frisco residents and FISD students. 1 - Frisco Reusable Bag Artwork Contest2 - Frisco Library's Poetry Contest
Reusable Bag Artwork Contest Contest Dates February 1st – March 12th Create a design to be printed on Frisco Reusable Bags to be given out and sold at Tom Thumb in Frisco. This is a public education campaign to encourage the use of reusable bags and to educate the citizens of Frisco about the harmful effect of plastic bags on the environment. Winning entries may be used in a variety of ways, (posters, reusable bags, t-shirts, etc.) by the City of Frisco Environmental Services. Specially designed bags will be sold at Tom Thumb starting on Frisco Earth Day, April 24th 2010 and used by Environmental Services as promotional items at events and educational opportunities. Contest Rules: Open to all students age 0-18 either living in the City of Frisco or attending an FISD school. One graphic design entry per person will be accepted. Photographs are not allowed. Original artwork must be submitted on the back of this official entry form ONLY Entries must be done in black ink, pencil, crayon, or marker. Computer generated entries are allowed but must be 100% original work. No entries with glue, stickers, 3-D embellishments, or non-original work will be accepted. Incomplete entries will not be accepted or judged. Entries must be returned on or before March 12th to the Green Team coordinators at any FISD school, Jeremy Starritt at the City of Frisco Environmental Services, or the contest drop-off box at Frisco City Hall. Entries will be judged on originality, simplicity, legibility, appropriateness to the theme, and creativity. Frisco Public Library to Sponsor Student Poetry Writing Contest FRISCO, TEXAS (Feb. 5, 2010) — The Frisco Public Library is pleased to announce its annual Student Poetry Contest. Entries will be accepted during the month of March with a deadline of March 31, 2010, at library closing time, 9 p.m. Texas Poet Laureate Alan Birkelbach will judge this year’s entries. Poems may be on any subject, written in any style, and submitted on any paper. No entry forms of any kind are required. Each submitted poem must include: student’s name, age, school, grade, and either the teacher’s or homeschooler parent’s name. Homeschoolers please include a phone number. All poems must be submitted to the 2nd floor reference desk or mailed to Frisco Public Library, 1601 Frisco Square Blvd., 75043, attention: Poetry Contest. Three winners will be chosen in each of the following grade level categories: 1st through 3rd, 4th through 6th, 7th through 9th, and 10th through 12th. Winners will be notified by April 16. A reception for winners, participants, teachers, family and friends will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 24 in the Library’s McCallum Room on the 4th floor. |
